The 2012 lineup, features and specifications remain similar to the 2011 model year.

It's the second consecutive win for the RS5 in the Superstars series (Johan Kristoffersson won the title last year), and the second this year following Mike Rockenfeller's title in the RS5 DTM.The 2012 Honda Accord combines a unique balance of style, performance, efficiency and value within a diverse range of spacious sedan and sporty coupe models. In the Superstars International Series - Italy's touring-car championship - Gianni Morbidelli drove the Audi RS5 to his fifth title, finishing the season's final race in a calculated third place behind the BMW racecars of Giovanni Berton and Max Mugelli. While Honda dominated the British championship, it was Audi that reigned supreme in mainland Europe. Four-time BTCC champion and Fifth Gear co-host Jason Plato, now driving for MG, landed third in the standings. Little wonder then that Honda took the constructors' championship and the Honda Yuasa Racing team took the teams' title. Instead, the ultimate glory went to Andrew Jordan, also driving a Honda Civic, coming in ninth place to take a seven-point victory over Shedden in the final standings.
In the British Touring Car Championship, Gordon Shedden won the final round at Brands Hatch this weekend, but that wasn't enough to defend his title. Back in Europe, however, this weekend saw several championship titles decided in a variety of tin-top racing series. Honda, Audi sweep European tin-top championships Mon, 16:01:00 ESTĭespite his win at the Japanese Grand Prix this weekend, Sebastian Vettel still has another race or two to go before he can claim his fourth consecutive World Championship in Formula 1. The aforementioned Altima and Fusion are perhaps the most capable challengers, but the Chevrolet Malibu, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Volkswagen Passat and Mazda6 are all capable of convincing new buyers to walk their way. It's 2014, and these frenemies have never before faced a threat to their world order as strong as today's class of family sedans. Aside from those anomalies, the Camry and Accord have been first and second in this segment since before many of you readers could even drive. The Accord pulled the opposite move in 2011, letting sales slip far enough to let not only the Toyota by, but the Nissan Altima and Ford Fusion, as well. There was that one year, 2001, when the Accord briefly broke the Camry's streak, marring what would today have been a 17-year-long run of best-selling car titles. The Toyota Camry has long been our nation's best seller, while the Honda Accord has dutifully come in second place, like some sort of codependent Cal Naughton Jr.

In Europe, a standard six-speed manual will come with both mills, while the 1.5-liter will offer the option of a continuously variable transmission.Ģ014 Honda Accord V6 Touring Mon, 11:57:00 ESTĪmerica's midsize sedan segment is one of the most crowded and fiercely competitive in the business. No matter! Here in France, Honda tells us that the utile little hatch will be available powered by both a 1.5-liter gasoline engine (the one American customers will see), and a 1.6-liter diesel unit, both wearing the company's Earth Dreams Technology label and presumably running cleaner and more frugally than ever.
Presumably this is a "prototype" for Europe, where the NYC car is US-specific, but we're still scratching our heads a bit. Here in Paris, Honda has unveiled its HR-V Prototype, a nearly production-ready version of a "new SUV for Europe." Before we take umbrage with that SUV designation - as far as we can tell the Fit-based crossover isn't much of a mudder - we should address the fact that at this year's New York Auto Show in April, Honda handed over just a few images and specs of the actually production-read HR-V for the US.
Or, in the case of the Honda HR-V, already down the block a ways.
"Prototypes" you might say, of production models that are just around the corner. Is there anything quite so exciting as seeing a brand-new vehicle for the very first time? Part of the allure of auto shows is the chance to see new ideas, just before they're fully baked and ready for public consumption. Honda HR-V Prototype looks awfully familiar Thu, 10:20:00 EST
